I am a nurse, historian of nursing, and Assistant Professor at Thomas Jefferson University College of Nursing.

My research focuses on policies related to nurses migrating from the Philippines to the United States. My recent project examines the history of Filipino American nurses from 1989-2009. Specifically, I look at how Filipino nurses influence these policies, which range from immigration legislation, professional licensure requirements for internationally-educated nurses, and industry standards for the staffing and recruitment companies that hire nurses internationally.

I completed my PhD at the University of Pennsylvania, where I was affiliated with the Barbara Bates Center for the Study of the History of Nursing. My dissertation was awarded the Teresa E. Christy Award from the American Association for the History of Nursing. After my doctoral studies, I was a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow at Rutgers School of Nursing. Beyond my research, my clinical experience has been in medical-surgical and psychiatric-mental health settings.
